Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026
This policy explains how HATE collects, uses, stores, and protects its users’ personal data. HATE is published and operated by: Adam SIMON – Sole trader (micro-entreprise) SIRET: 939 359 782 00017 60 rue François Ier, 75008 Paris, France adamsimon2002pro@gmail.com The data controller is Adam SIMON.
1. Identification and sign-in data
We may process your email address, telephone number, their verification status, identifiers provided by Apple or Google, and the technical information required for authentication. A telephone number is required to verify and secure the account.
2. Profile data
We may process your first name, date of birth and calculated age, city of birth, workplace location, photographs, biography, height, occupation, school, education level, languages, gender, pronouns, the people you wish to meet, religion, political views, cultural background, pets, zodiac sign, whether you have children, habits relating to alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and party substances, and the type of relationship you are seeking.
Your first name, age, and current city may be displayed to operate the service. Other information is displayed according to the features and choices available in the App.
3. Sensitive data and preferences
Some optional information, including religious beliefs, political views, and cultural background, may constitute special-category data. It is used only for the matching and personalisation features requested by the user.
Where required by law, processing is based on separate, explicit consent. Consent may be withdrawn without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
4. Photographs
A profile contains between 3 and 6 photographs. They are technically stored and delivered through Cloudinary. Users must hold the necessary rights and must not publish unlawful or misleading content, content that infringes a third party’s rights, or content that sexually involves a minor.
5. Location
With device permission, HATE processes latitude and longitude to calculate proximity, apply the search radius, and enable travel mode. Exact coordinates are not displayed to other users; only a city is shown on the profile.
Workplace location is separate information corresponding to the city where the user works. Refusing or withdrawing location permission may limit discovery features. Travel mode may be limited to certain areas during beta testing.
6. Hates and matching
‘Hates’ are topics, activities, or tastes that a user dislikes. HATE records cards that are discovered, selected, passed, or added to the collection, packs that are opened, and cards pinned to the profile. This information is used to personalise the experience and determine compatibility.
The matching system takes into account shared Hates, distance, and reciprocal preferences concerning the people each user wishes to meet.
7. Interactions and messages
We record Likes, Super Likes, passes, profile choices, rewinds, responses, matches, and their history to provide the service, avoid repeatedly showing certain profiles, manage Premium features, and prevent abuse.
Messages may be associated with the sender, match, date, and read status. They may be retained for up to 365 days where necessary to operate or moderate the service, ensure safety, or resolve disputes.
8. Reports, blocks, and security
Reports may include the identity of the reporter and reported account, the reason, a description, the date, and the processing status. We may also process IP addresses, device types, user agents, and security logs to prevent fraud and investigate incidents.
9. Notifications and subscriptions
Notifications may concern Likes, matches, messages, Super Likes, Boosts, Premium features, and the account. A technical Apple or Google identifier is used, and notification categories can be configured in the App.
In-app purchases and subscriptions on iOS are processed by Apple, with RevenueCat used to verify and synchronise Premium entitlements. HATE neither receives nor stores complete payment-card details, but retains the plan, product, dates, status, renewal information, and technical data needed to validate the purchase.
10. Service providers and transfers
Railway hosts the backend, PostgreSQL, and related technical services. Cloudinary stores and delivers photographs and media. Apple and Google provide authentication and system services. Firebase Cloud Messaging and device notification services deliver push notifications.
RevenueCat provides technical management and verification of Apple subscriptions. SendGrid delivers sign-in codes by email, and OVHcloud delivers telephone-verification codes by SMS. Public French government APIs may be queried to help users select a city or educational institution.
Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, we use safeguards recognised under the GDPR, including an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Purposes and legal bases
Account, profile, interaction, matching, messaging, and subscription management is mainly based on performance of the contract. Location and certain sensitive-data processing are based on consent where required. Safety, abuse prevention, and moderation are based on legitimate interests or a legal obligation, as applicable.
12. Retention and deletion
Account, profile, and matching data is retained for the lifetime of the account or as long as needed to provide the service. Messages may be retained for up to 365 days. Reports, transaction evidence, and logs may be retained longer where required for safety or by law.
The account can be deleted directly under Settings → Account → Delete my account. Associated data is then deleted, except where retention is strictly necessary to comply with the law, ensure safety, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
13. Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent. Email adamsimon2002pro@gmail.com. We may request proof of identity. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data-protection authority.
14. Security, minors, and changes
We implement technical and organisational measures against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure, but cannot guarantee zero risk. HATE is restricted to people aged 18 or over.
This policy may change as the service, regulations, providers, or our practices evolve. Material changes may be announced in the App.
